See you at Artscape Weston Common

Artscape is thrilled to announce that Artscape Weston Common, our newest community cultural hub in the heart of the Weston-Mount Dennis community, is now open for the community to enjoy! The new hub will add to the community’s already rich and diverse creativity and culture offering a vibrant, central gathering place to come together to create, learn and celebrate.

Don’t miss out on some great events and programs coming up presented by our program partners, Urban Arts and Shakespeare in Action. Artscape Weston Common will also be kicking off its opening with the City of Toronto’s Cultural Hotspots event on May 25, as well as participating in the 20th annual Doors Open Toronto on May 25 and 26. Also, mark your calendars for June 5th as we officially celebrate the opening of the entire community development project in partnership with the Rockport Group.

The City of Toronto’s Cultural Hotspot shines a spotlight on arts, culture and community, inspiring new ideas about where culture thrives in Toronto. This year’s Cultural Hotspot will kick off at Artscape Weston Common!

Doors Open Toronto showcases some of the most architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across the city. This year’s theme is “20 Something,” celebrating the first 20 years of Doors Open Toronto while looking forward to the next 20 years.

Artscape Weston Common is Artscape’s first foray into creative placemaking–the practice of leveraging art and culture as a catalyst for urban and community development–outside of Toronto’s downtown core.

Artscape will operate the hub with its programming partners, UrbanArts and Shakespeare in Action, who will animate the hub on a daily basis, inviting the community in to participate in programming and events. Artscape Weston Common will also provide homes for 26 artists and artist-led families, who will live and work in affordable units made possible through a partnership with the Rockport Group and the City of Toronto’s Affordable Housing Department.
