Jewellery design can be very individualistic, with designers focused on their own projects and style. But on a daily basis, a steady stream of members work solo on projects and prototypes in the collective space of Artscape Daniels Launchpad’s Fine Metals and Jewellery Studio.
From a designer’s perspective, a creative studio can lead to the sharing of insights, ideas, and inspirations from a likeminded group of makers. This past month, designers have been benefitting by frequent use of the two jewellers torches in the studio’s hot room.
“There has been a wonderful variation of techniques being used by members in this studio,” explained Helen Weston, Manager of the Artscape Daniels Launchpad’s Creative Studios.
Designers have been showing off ways of using the tool, and cross-pollinating ideas for future jewellery designs. In the process, many designers are fine-tuning their torch technique and evolving their practice.
