Shakespeare In Action announces Weston Young Theatre Makers Series at Artscape Weston Common
Shakespeare In Action has announced a new fall program for young dramatists between the ages of 4 and 14. Weston Young Theatre Makers Series is an eight-week program that runs on Saturdays between October 19 and December 7 at Artscape Weston Common.
Shakespeare in Action is a diverse theatre company that aspires to enhance the arts and education through exploring and performing Shakespeare’s plays. They are dedicated to fostering literacy, enhancing creativity and promoting speech arts by making the language and stories of Shakespeare accessible and relevant to young audiences, their families, and the community.
Shakespeare In Action promotes literacy, creativity and confidence through the speech arts at Artscape Weston Common.
Participants in the Weston Young Theatre Makers Series will work with one of Shakespeare In Action’s professional Actor-Educators to explore storytelling and drama through different Shakespearean texts. To register, the program offers three age-based streams:
• Young Storytellers (ages 4-6)
• Drama Makers (ages 7-10)
• Creating Theatre (ages 11-14)
Cost for the program is $120 per child. However, low-income children and youth who live in the Weston community can apply for the Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund, which offers subsidized spots and in some cases, full scholarships to Shakespeare In Action’s performing arts programs.
