UrbanArts, a programming partner at Artscape Weston Common, has opened registration for Winter 2020 programming. As a progressive, not-for-profit Community Arts Council/Local Arts Service Organization, UrbanArts provides opportunities for diverse cultural expression, artistic development, training and employment to members of urban communities with a focus on youth in central west Toronto. They provide a range of programs led by professional artists in visual, digital, culinary and media arts, theatre, dance and music, including several programs for Winter 2020:
After School Arts Program

TUN UP Dance Program

Tuesdays: 6:00pm-8:00pm
TUN UP is a FREE dance program for youth 14-29 years of age. The dance program is an active, movement-based program that develops the athleticism, physicality and musicality of every participant. Through the program youth will learn and master choreography, receive professional training , have an opportunity to perform with a dance team at a competitive level, gain professional and artistic dance opportunities and build lasting relationship and connect to a larger community.

A WORLD OF FOOD Culinary Program

A WORLD OF FOOD is a weekly culinary arts program that celebrates and increases awareness and understanding of the rich variety of cultures, traditions and languages that are found within York South-Weston. Together with experienced Chefs, participants will “travel” to different continents to learn more about various cuisines, food traditions, and ideas for lunch boxes. The program will also include ‘Global Getaways’, evenings that celebrate cultures through traditional food, music, art and–of–course conversation.
