About the artists
A participant of various dance forms and physical activities throughout her life, Karen developed a fascination with the body and its ability to move in weird and wonderful ways. She paints using acrylic, latex, and aerosol, on paper, canvas, or walls, to portray moments of transitions, being off balance, falling, recovery, strengthening and growth.
Karen creates art installations from found objects and up-cycled materials to invoke questioning and self reflection. She also shoots and exhibits still photography.
Karen has created public art for the City of Toronto, King St. Pilot, streetARToronto, Bell Box Program and private organizations. She has exhibited at Art in the Park, Danforth East Art Fair, Barns Art Market, Artscape, Bata Shoe Museum, Female Eye Film Festival, Contact, Snap, and Dance Ontario.
Born in Toronto, she practices in the GTA. Karen graduated from Central Technical 3-year Adult Art, Ryerson Photography and Humber College Audio/Visual Technology Programs. Learn more.
Paitra is a singer-songwriter based in Toronto with a deep-rooted passion for music. Originally from Timmins, Ontario, Paitra grew up performing in school concerts, weddings, and city events. It wasn’t until she moved to Toronto when she started to work on her music career more professionally, having opportunities to play gigs throughout the city, collaborate with like-minded emerging artists, and begin recording her original music. As a hobby, Paitra uploads song covers to her YouTube channel for her friends and family to enjoy but is beyond excited to start releasing her original music for the world to hear. Paitra’s music will be featured on July 31 but in the meantime you can listen to some of her work here:
