Shakespeare In Action’s free staged reading of Nona’s Malaika to be broadcasted live from Artscape Weston Common’s Rockport Performance Hall

On Saturday, September 26, join Shakespeare In Action, our programming partner at Artscape Weston Common, for a free digital workshop reading of Nona’s Malaikai, written and directed by Katia Cafe-Febrissy. The staged reading will be broadcasted live via the Zoom conferencing platform at 7 pm from the Rockport Performance Hall.

Shakespeare In Action Nona's Malaika

The new short play, Nona’s Malaika, is a futuristic comedy where the very opinionated smartphone and laptop of a 16-year old girl realize they are no longer the centre of attention of their owner, a teen struggling with her mental health.  The play will feature actors Malindi Ayienga, Amanda Cordner and Matt Nethersole. The performance will be followed by a talkback session with the director and the artistic team and a local community expert on youth, social media engagement, and mental health challenges in the York South – Weston Community.

This new digital theatre initiative by Shakespeare In Action kicks off their Fall season of programming which will include a mix of digital and in-person workshops and classes for children, adults and seniors.

To attend the free staged reading, please register via Eventbrite.
