Fred utilizes a glazing technique and intentionally leaves the brightly coloured underpainting to vibrate with successive layers of paint. The tone of his series invites our optimism. The paintings exude a curiosity for nature and the observed world around us. As scientist, Fred is trained to examine and note the qualities of natural phenomenon, to understand the intricacies and inner workings of nature. As painter, Fred gives back to the world that has fed his wonderment by painting images full of colour, rhythm, and playful impressions.
