2017 WeeFestival Family Day

Join us for a special event supporting Theatre Direct’s WeeFestival of Theatre and Culture for Early Years.

Holiday Monday, May 22, 2017
9:30 AM – 1:00 PM | Artscape Wychwood Barns

Admission by donation – suggested minimum is $10 per person (babies 0-12 months free).

The count down to the 2018 edition of the WeeFestival of Theatre and Culture for Early Years has begun, and we’re excited to announce a special event for children and families! Join us for a special morning filled with dance, storytelling, music, crafts, healthy eats & treats, and a sneak peek at the WeeFestival 2018 edition… There’s something for everyone! Children and their grownups can stay and play until it’s time to go home and nap!

This is a fundraising event, families are invited to donate on top of their $10 donation for admission when they reserve their tickets online.

9:30 am Mabouya Dance Company
Welcome the morning with Bélé dancing from Dominica featuring performers: Allidia Aubrey, Kenisha Louis, Yinka Bannis and Registe Ambrose

10:15 am & 12:15 pm Musical Merry Making
Sophia Perlman and Terra Dawn Hazelton.

11:00 am – 11:30 am Stories in the Wonder Garden
Theo Heras shares her latest book Hat On, Hat Off along with an armful of music and rhymes.
Mariella Bertelli brings multilingual rhymes, echoes, chants and tiny tales with See Saw & Toronto Town

11:30 am – 12:45 pm Firefly Theatre
The stories of kindergarten students from Humewood, Hillcrest, and The Grove are brought to life by actors and live music.

1:00 pm Traditional Indigenous Dance
Leslie McCue from Curve Lake First Nation and Lindy Kinoshameg from Wikwemikong First Nation will be coming to the WeeFestival Family Day to share their Indigenous dance styles and songs with you!

Watch the artists of Theatre Direct’s newest show make everyday items transform into creatures great and small then give it a try yourself.

Little Paper Fishing Pond
Try your luck at The Little Paper’s famous fishing pond – WEE prizes for little ones and great resources
for parents from Toronto’s best guide for young families.

Nibbles and Nosh
Enjoy healthy eats from a host of great food vendors.
