Maureen Loweth has been a Dean at George Brown College since 2002. She was Dean of Business, Arts and Design for eleven years overseeing significant growth in student enrollment during that time. She is now Dean, Centre for Business, where her team has pursued aggressive strategic growth and implementation of the Centre’s vision.
As Dean and a member of the Senior Management Team, she has played a part in the development of the college vision and overall strategy. Achievements include building projects such as the opening of a new School of Financial Services, the building of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, (home to the George Brown Theatre School), the relocation of the School of Design and the redesign of three floors for additional students in the Centre for Business.
Prior to joining George Brown College, Maureen spent twenty years in the Investment Management Industry and was a senior executive with Fidelity Investments Canada, having held a number of positions including Vice-President, Customer Relations, Vice-President, The Fidelity Institute, and Vice-President Learning and Development. Maureen began her association with George Brown College in 1997 when she joined the Program Advisory Committee for Financial Services. She became a Member of the Board of Governors in 1998, serving on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee.
Maureen is an active volunteer and is a current Member of the Board of Artscape Inc., a not-for-profit urban development organization. She is the Chair of the Artscape Launchpad Steering Committee. She is a past inaugural board member of both Daniels Spectrum and the Young Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. She has also served on the Board of the YWCA of Greater Toronto.
Maureen holds a Masters of Education degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Trent University.
