Shelley M. Black leads marketing and consumer innovation and customer experience from the perspective of a senior professional with more than 25 years of experience on the client side, primarily in the financial services and publishing sectors, as a Marketing and Communications Consultant. She enjoys working with clients to enrich and release creativity in teams for business growth.
An award-winning editor of the highest-circulation fashion and beauty magazine in Canada, FLARE, to producing a globally recognized annual report for ten consecutive years, Shelley is a hands-on, results driven marketing and communications expert. Her publishing experience also includes heading up marketing and communications at Maclean’s magazine.
Most recently, she worked with global brands as a senior consultant with Synecticsworld, a Boston-based pioneer in innovation and creative collaboration. Before joining Synecticsworld, she was at BMO Financial Group, where she was responsible for all employee communications and strategic communications such as the annual report and corporate responsibility report, corporate donations and the corporate information web sites.
Her volunteer work includes: past chair of the board of Theatre Passe Muraille, she is currently on the boards of the Artscape Foundation, the Koffler Centre of the Arts and FAST, an organization dedicated to educating grade school children about racism.
