The Artscape Youth Arts Mentorship program provides youth throughout Toronto, aged 18-29, access to creative mentorship and training opportunities that enable them to grow their creative career and reach new audiences. The intensive 3-month program will provide structured one-on-one mentorship with professional creatives in their field, capacity-building creative entrepreneurship workshops with internationally-renowned artists and facilitators, connections to arts sector leaders and industry opportunities, and a supportive peer network.

Program Overview

Creative Entrepreneurship-Based Workshops  

  • Financial Management 101  
  • Being a Working Artist  
  • Branding, Public Relations and Social Media Marketing  
  • Grant Writing  
  • Navigating Under-Representation in the Creative Sector  

  

1-on-1 Mentorship  

All program participants will have access to six, 30-minute one on one conversations with established artists and other creative professionals across multiple artistic disciplines. These mentorship sessions will allow for participants to develop connections with established artists, gain advice on navigating a creative career, obtain feedback on work, and touch on topics such as confidence as an artist, creative blocks, expanding your network, accessing creative opportunities, etc.  

  

Final Showcase Event   

The program will conclude with an opportunity to showcase/exhibit a creative project created during the duration of the program.

Eligibility

Applicants must:    

  • Be an emerging and/or practicing creative 
  • Have an entrepreneurial desire to advance their creative practice/business    
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a legal resident 
  • Be based in Downtown Toronto or the GTA (Greater Toronto Area)  
  • York South-Weston and Regent Park residents will be prioritized   
  • Be between the ages of 18-29

How To Apply

Artists interested in participating in the Artscape Youth Arts Mentorship program will complete an online application form. 

Application questions will give applicants an opportunity to demonstrate what makes them a great candidate for the program and to describe their creative work, activities and entrepreneurial vision. Fees

There are NO fees associated with the Artscape Youth Arts Mentorship program. All program participants will receive a $500 honorarium for their engagement and successful completion of the program.
