Artscape Gibraltar Point – October Update
It’s been a busy time at Artscape Gibraltar Point! The last week of September marked an enjoyable close to the summer season with our second-annual Rogue Vibes event, presented in partnership with The Power Plant, Rogue Wave Outdoor Sculpture and Installation Exhibition and Steam Whistle Pilsner. We enjoyed performances by Nadia Szilvassy, Gary Smith, Beth Stuart, Maya ben David and music from the Jelly Collective DJs that kept us dancing ‘til well after dark!
October also marked the launch of two flagship programming initiatives: Winter Island, our annual juried artist award. We received 40 very high quality applications this year and the jury is currently in the process of selecting the four artists who will animate our space during the first months of 2019.
Applications for our 2019 Programmed Residencies went live this month. The FAC art residency invites multidisciplinary artists from various practices such as literature, dance, video art, visual arts, theatre, design, makers, music, comic arts to apply. Submissions will be accepted until November 14, 2017.
